I’m Meghan, the founder of Embodied Interiors! (And that feels SO exciting to officially say to someone other than my husband!) Here’s my virtual warm welcome and introduction to my plans with this space…
First and foremost, THANK YOU for being here – and an extra “thank you” to those who have been “in the know” with this project who have supported my crazy ideas, passions, and ambitious dreams over the years. You all mean more to me than you will ever know!
Without going too deep on the first post, I think it’s important to understand your “why” in any business. My “why” for starting Embodied Interiors is simple – our spaces influence our physical health, our mental wellness, and our overall ability to live our lives in the best way we can. A disorganized, cluttered, poorly designed space can hinder our creativity, our internal peace, and can wreck any system you put into place, and the opposite absolutely rings true – a well-designed space can encourage growth, productivity, and a sense of calm when you walk through the door.
In 2019, I got into real estate, and I did so as my first step to chasing my love for construction, real estate, and making spaces beautiful. I wanted to be on the forefront of one of the biggest decisions in my clients’ lives, loaded with as much educational ammunition I could get my hands on. When consulting my clients over the years, I’ve helped explain the basics of real estate, find the perfect piece of land to build on, or the perfect rental home, and have played the roles of educator, therapist, babysitter, and various others on a near-daily basis, resulting in many clients who have become friends.
Morgan Harper Nichols“This is the season she will make beautiful things. Not perfect things, but honest things that speak to who she is a who she is called to be.”
When I decided to leave my office job in 2019, I did so with the idea to be a changemaker in the real estate industry and have devoted my life to that since then. Little did I know, the industry would have so much beyond face value to teach me, too! Those clients who I’ve helped through their big decisions all have one thing in common – almost every one of them has also needed help with a design or wellness decision at some point during or after their real estate journey. By creating Embodied Interiors, I am able to make that title official – I can now officially offer e-Design, design and short-term rental consulting services, and can help make your next step in homeownership a beautiful and healthy one!
For those of you who have known me for a long time, you know that I’ve always had a passion for health and wellness – and for those of you who are just meeting me, you know that now! In what seems like a lifetime ago, I was once a personal trainer, and in fact my long-term goal was to design and open a training center for more years than I can count. After life happened, I tabled that dream and focused on my primary career, that then was working on proposals in the construction industry. My entire professional career, something had been tugging at my heartstrings to figure out exactly how I could merge my seemingly unrelated passions together – after all, how do wellness, design and construction go together anyway? That’s what I used to ask myself anyway.

You see, life has a funny way of teaching us things when we least expect it, and I have learned over the past decade how much our external environment can change the way we feel physically, mentally, and emotionally. I have shown houses that were well-loved, well-designed, and had ample lighting that just felt right when you walked through the door, and I have shown homes where nothing made sense and the energy in the room was negative the moment my clients walked through the door. I remember one that I showed several times that had hardly any natural lighting, and to fix the problem the previous owner installed a skylight directly over the toilet in a bathroom with a 10+ ft. vaulted ceiling. I can’t tell you how many jokes my clients made about how that ended up there, but I do know that any other Realtor within a 30-mile radius of Livingston County, Michigan would know that house if I showed them because of it!
Likewise, I have experienced moments like that in my own life. No, I have not installed an over-the-toilet skylight, but I have lived in homes that were rented, some that were purchased, homes that saw struggles, and joy, and others that were there to greet me after big life changes, both good and bad. Our homes are like a friend who never gets enough credit, because no matter what the day brings, they are there to greet you with all your stories, all your joys, your struggles, and the love that lives within its walls. What if we could use that to our advantage and make them even more supportive of us, by planning, designing, and creating places that work for us and actually provide what we need? That is my goal with Embodied Interiors – together, we aim to embody your life, your dreams, your passions, and your creativity into a space that supports you, your family, and even future tenants.
The most functional and beautiful version of your home doesn’t have to live on Pinterest – we can actually make it a reality! I have spent the past decade of my life learning about construction, design, sustainability, and wellness, and plan to share the knowledge I’ve gained over the years in any way I can to help you create your dream spaces.
I look forward to working with you, to hearing from you, and to have you here to follow along on this journey with me!
With love,
Meghan
