Since I was a little girl, I've been decorating, business planning, and styling things to feel comfortable and beautiful. I used to spend my free time pushing my furniture around my bedroom until it felt right - I surely can't be the only one who loved doing this! However, as I got older and went through all of the ups and downs of life, I continued to learn about the impact our built environment has on our physical an emotional well-being.  Simply put - when you look good, you feel good, and the same goes for your home. This doesn't mean buying all the most expensive things, but instead adding colors that inspire you, furniture that is comfortable, and art that tells your story.

When my husband and I opened our first short-term rental property in Northern Michigan, we learned so many things. We researched, studied, read, and listened to everything we could get our hands on, and realized just how hard it was to figure out how to get started. As we pushed through our design and procurement process, I felt like I was exactly where I needed to be. At one point, I told my husband I wanted to share everything we've learned and start designing experiences for other people... the ecstatic response I received was all I needed to know it was the right thing to do.

It should tell a story of your hopes, your dreams, your passions and travels. As cheesy as it sounds to say that your space, whether rented, owned, or invested, should invoke a feeling. After all, people don't buy things, they buy feelings. Same goes for your personal space. You should feel the same joy and optimism you did when you first walked into a space every single day.
